Diwali Celebration in third grade

Learning through experience is one of the best ways to learn, and in third grade we decided to implement this method during religion classes in order to know more about the different celebrations of some religions such as Hinduism. For this reason on Wednesday class, third grade celebrated “the Diwali”, one of the most important celebrations of Hinduism which is known as the “festival of lights”; during these days, houses, shops and public places are decorated with small oil lamps, and candles. Besides, as for many Indians this five days festival honors Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, they clean their houses very well, wear new clothes and share candies and delicious dishes with their families and neighbors. So in order to represent this festival, the students wore sheets representing Hindu’s customs, they decorated their classroom with candles and lights, and shared candies and delicious plates they brought with the whole class.
